smsExpress™ First Delivery Attempt Significant increases in Short Message Service (SMS) challenge carriers to expand the capacity of their existing Signaling System 7 (SS7) network infrastructure in order to support bursts of high-volume SMS messaging, alleviate network congestion, minimize lost messages, and conduct accurate billing – all while managing operational costs. TCS’ smsExpress™ FDA eliminates traditional store/forward delivery. This alternative approach to SMS delivery transmits approximately 80% - 90% (depending upon operator network characteristics) of text messages directly to mobile users without first routing the messages to the Short Message Service Center (SMSC) for traditional store/forward delivery. Only text messages that fail first delivery attempt are routed to the SMSC. Comprehensive Benefits: - Simultaneous support of GSM/UMTS, CDMA/EV-DO, and mobile broadband (LTE/WiMAX/IMS) networks
- Guaranteed message delivery and receipt confirmation forwarding
- Flexible deployment options, quickly and easily transitions to full SMSC operations
- Prepaid account balance verification to avoid leakage for insufficient funds
- Complete end-to-end interoperability with all core network components
Key Features: - Delivery – Performance engineered to withstand high volume traffic bursts commonly associated with interactive TV, marketing promotions or mass alerts.
- Billing – Sophisticated system and billing techniques for SMSCs, prepaid, and voice mail thereby avoiding leakage.
- Intelligent Routing – flexible, configurable routing rules for retry and message escalation.
- Scalable Platform – Capacity relief to handle peaks. Easily upgrades to full SMSC leveraging TCS’ simplified conversion.
- Geographically Redundant – Shares load and provides 99.999% reliability.
- Cost Relief – smsExpress FDA is less expensive than typical SMSC upgrade. Cost savings on existing SMSCs are realized due to the percentage of legacy traffic that is off-loaded.
- Embedded promotions – Enabling premium services allows the carrier to increase ARPU
