Rand McNally StreetFinder® Wireless Rand McNally StreetFinder® Wireless, a downloadable location-enabled maps, directions, and point-of-interest (POI) mobile application, is a convenient and affordable alternative to more expensive navigation products. Available on J2ME and BREW handsets, Rand McNally StreetFinder Wireless allows users to look up a location by category or business name while providing maps, directions, and contact information. Functionality includes:
Four views for directions: List view, turns view, route view, and detail view. What's close: One-click search for locating POIs around a user's current location. Along route: One-click search helps users find POIs "on the way." Map view: Users can easily pan and zoom in and out of the map. While panning, the application intelligently and dynamically downloads new map tiles in the background while continuing to provide a responsive user interface.
Subscribers can select a variety of map options, including favorite and recent places, airports, or specific locations entered by address, intersection, or Zip Code. In addition, users whose wireless device includes global positioning system (GPS) capabilities can use Rand McNally StreetFinder Wireless to find their exact location in real time.
Rand McNally StreetFinder Wireless enables users to calculate different route types, such as fastest, shortest, and reverse trip. The POI Directory can be used to find nearby banks, gas stations, restaurants, recreational areas, and other points-of-interest and is easily searched by name, area, or category.
