TCS Mobile Location Protocol (MLP) Hub

The TCS Mobile Location Protocol (MLP) Hub facilitates rapid deployment of wireless data services in LBS networks by attracting wireless data value-added service providers whose systems use the MLP standard.

The TCS MLP Hub employs industry-standard Web services architecture to provide the primary interface for management and routing, for caching of location requests, and for managing subscriber privacy preferences.

Location Aggregation – The TCS MLP Hub acts as a proxy server to broker location requests/responses required for LBS by value-added service providers, allowing them to launch their services over the carrier’s LBS network and securely link with the mobile operator’s LBS infrastructure to access elements and deliver the services they want for their customers.

Privacy – The TCS MLP Hub also provides and maintains a registry of user profile settings used for privacy checking typically required for non-trusted location services (e.g., friend finder, enterprise fleet finder, etc). The TCS MLP Hub Web portal enables subscribers, via a Web interface, to self-provision and manage their profile and privacy settings to control location access requests at an application or individual user level.

Features

The features of the TCS MLP Hub include multiple functions served by a single platform:

Location Broker – LBS client applications obtain location of end users utilizing various positioning methods and technologies.

Subscriber User and Device Profile – A data repository of mobile subscriber personal information, preferences, and handset models allows LBS client applications to tailor the services they provide to the specific needs and preferences of mobile subscribers.

Privacy Engine and Subscriber Self-provisioning – Subscribers control their profile and privacy settings via a Web interface. The TCS MLP Hub Privacy Engine supports privacy rules for Time of Day, Location Based, and Contact List.

Subscriber Permissions – Subscribers control access to specific applications and control permissions for other end users.
